The Main page takes long to load now for two reasons: first, the buttons on the left are a little slower-loading than plain text (but, it sure does look good, huh?). The real reason is the picture of the Stratford sign. It's a wee big in size. We're working on that. (Update 2-2000: Replaced that nasty, big, fuzzy Sign with a new one and replaced the "buttons" with plain text) . Of course, the real reason may be that you have a slow computer and/or a slow connection to the Internet. If you don't have at least a 56k modem and a mid- to upper-level Pentium processor in your PC you're not cooking with fire.
Most of the pictures on this website (actually, all of them as of 2/9/00) have been scanned. That is, we have taken regular, store-developed photos and put them through (under) the scanner. It is hard to get the file size small without losing much of the image quality. Future photos of the Stratford area, for the most part, will be taken with a Kodak DC215 Digital Camera which will provide high-quality photos which are much smaller in size. (Update 2-2000: Added new digital (quicker loading, clearer) photos.)
Our full-time staff of over 500 people is constantly updating the website 24 hours a day. Whenever something happens in town, we know about it and, subsequently, update our pages.
Actually, I get to it when I can (I do have a job, you know).
It refers to someone who grew up or lived for a period of time in Stratford. It's just something we made up. It's something that hopefully makes former Residents feel as though they are still a part of Stratford, both past and present.
Because the guestbook, over the past several years, has provided such an insight into the history of Stratford that we felt it best to put those comments into an easily read format. Archiving puts the older entries onto a new page making both the new and the old quicker to load.
Me. I've lived here since 1989. I grew up in Magnolia (not Stratford), went to St. Gregory's (not Parkview or Yellin), went to Paul VI (not Sterling). I have have three boys, a wife, and a 1988 Pontiac Firebird (not necessarily in order of importance (just kidding, hon!)).. We have two dogs (update 2002...no dogs :-( , two birds (update 2002, still have 2 birds :-( , two newts (little lizards), many fish (update 2002, a few fish), and three rats (update 2002, 2rats). I live on Wellington Ave. That's it I guess, besides the 500 (update 2002, now over 650!) or so people on our staff.
