The information contained herein has been carefully obtained and is presented for our mutual enlightenment. The Aerial Photo for the Cover was taken on June 16, 1955 by Siegfried Studio, Riverside, New Jersey. The Map for the center-spread was the only one available. The Original Directory in 1952 listed 1533 people; the Supplement, published in 1953, accounted for 1971 people; and the listing in this Directory totals 3002. 1905 Adults and 1097 Children. In 1925 there were some 221 dwellings, nowaround 850. (404- in 1952 and 532 in 1953). Thanks is extended to those who assisted in compiling this information. Every Family residing in the Bore gets one copy FREE. Numbers have been assigned to each dwelling and business in anticipation of home delivery of mail in the not too distant future. Incidentally, our Post Office was opened in August, 1907 and located at No. I N. Atlantic Avenue, East (corner of Union). Mr. Winfield S. Iredell was the first Postmaster and served until his death, November, 1928. Mrs. L. Mae Titus served as acting Postmaster until the appointment on April 26, 1929 of Mrs. Ethel B. Carr. The present site has been in use since 1937. It attained second class rating on July 1, 1955. |
